From Rain to Rhythm again

What a difference a week makes.

After last week’s downpour, this week opened up with clearer skies and a return to a steadier rhythm.

Monday saw a full house at the barn, with a booked-out brunch followed by welcoming 20 ladies from the Timboon Garden Club for coffee and cake in the afternoon.

While the garden wasn’t quite ready for wandering after all the rain, it created the opportunity to slow things down and share more of our story — what we do here and what drakesfreshproduce is all about.

By Tuesday, with mild temperatures and no rain on the horizon, it felt like a now-or-never moment. We got properly stuck into the patch, clearing the remaining beds of cut flowers, vegetables, and the eco garden.

Trailer load after trailer load made its way to the compost pile, and by evening, the space felt reset and back in order.

Next on the list was the pumpkin patch — pulling out irrigation lines and clearing sunflower and corn stalks.

It’s physical work, but satisfying. There’s certainly no need for a gym membership around here — it’s built into the daily routine.
