A Brunch, a City Trip and Time with the Girls
We started the week with a full house at the Barn for our Labour Day Brunch. Our Swiss-inspired buffet once again brought together a lovely mix of locals and visitors from further afield, all gathering for a slow morning around good food and conversation. It’s always wonderful to see the Barn buzzing with people enjoying themselves. For those who missed out, the next brunch is already pencilled in for Easter Monday. Very early on Tuesday morning the girls and I headed off on

Autumn Moments and a Busy Barn Weekend
Last weekend turned out to be a lively one here at the Barn. Our garage sale might not have cleared out as many treasures as we had hoped, but what it did bring was something just as valuable — a wonderful flow of new faces through the gate. With several neighbours taking part in the trail as well, visitors came from far and wide, wandering from property to property and discovering little corners of our community along the way. Sunday then brought the next highlight. As the c

Smoke, Full Tables & Steady Progress
Reflecting on last weekend’s Patch to Plate BBQ — once again we were fully booked, and our hungry crowd was treated to a generous buffet dinner. There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing long tables filled and plates coming back empty. On a personal note, I was slightly challenged by grilling close to 15kg of meat. Managing timing, heat and volume is one thing — having both BBQs run out of gas mid-cook definitely added an extra layer of excitement! But as always,

Holding Space & Finding Gentle Rhythm
This week brought with it news that stopped us in our tracks. We had to come to terms with the unexpected loss of our good friend, Brad. Brad and his parents played a major role in shaping our life here in Australia. In many ways, our path into the dairy industry is tied closely to their support, guidance and friendship over the years. Their impact on our family runs deep. Our son Timothy, who is currently working on their farm, has felt this loss especially hard. As a family

Wood fired pizzas and open Garden
Our Open Garden and first time offering wood fired pizza to the public was great fun. We had a steady stream of people come through to enjoy the fare, and it was such a joy to see the space filled with conversation, laughter and the smell of pizza baking in the oven. Alongside the pizzas we offered a few other lunch options and some Italian-inspired desserts, which were well received. Many took the opportunity to wander through the patch afterwards — a gentle stroll in the mi

A Full Barn, Full Plates and Riding the Heat
What an incredible way to wrap up our summer brunches. Our last Brunch at the Barn was a real highlight, with over 40 guests filling the space and enjoying a relaxed morning around our Swiss-inspired buffet. People travelled from Geelong, Ocean Grove and Portland to be here, meeting friends, sharing tables and leaving as part of the wider Barn community. It’s moments like these that remind us why we love opening our space and feeding people well. Mid-week brought a very diffe

Events, preserves and maintenance
Our third brunch was a great success and it was such a joy to see the barn filled with very keen breakfast/lunch participants. The atmosphere was relaxed and warm, plates were full, conversations flowed and it was clear that everyone truly enjoyed their morning with us. There is just one more brunch on offer this coming Monday 26. January, from 8:30–12 , and bookings are essential as places are limited. We are also squeezing in an Open Garden with wood-fired pizzas on Sunday

Patch To Plate Dinner
Our Build Your Own Burger Patch to Plate dinner was fully booked out, and once again the Barn was filled with laughter, conversation and that special kind of atmosphere that only comes from sharing good food around long tables. Nights like these remind us why we started these dinners in the first place. This week itself was a quieter one, without any major highlights, but sometimes those are the weeks where the most gets done. We tackled a few jobs that had been sitting on t

Brunch at the Barn
We had our very first Brunch at the Barn! A lot of planning went into this little project and we were thrilled to welcome 20 guests who joined us for a slow, Swiss-inspired morning. Us three girls had a fair bit to get through in terms of preparation—creating platters, setting up the buffet, and making sure everything looked just right. Right on time, we were ready to welcome our first guest, and from there the morning flowed beautifully. It felt like the beginning of somethi
