From Rain to Rhythm again
What a difference a week makes. After last week’s downpour, this week opened up with clearer skies and a return to a steadier rhythm. Monday saw a full house at the barn, with a booked-out brunch followed by welcoming 20 ladies from the Timboon Garden Club for coffee and cake in the afternoon. While the garden wasn’t quite ready for wandering after all the rain, it created the opportunity to slow things down and share more of our story — what we do here and what drakesfreshpr

Rainy Days, New Beginnings & Keeping the Rhythm
At the start of last week, we launched something we’ve been working towards for a while — our online shop and weekly delivery to Timboon. There is now a “Timboon” tab at the top of our webpage, where you can browse available items, including fresh produce, baked goods, and pantry staples. Orders will need to be placed by Wednesday night, with pickup available on Saturday afternoon at a designated location. We’re looking forward to seeing how this grows and connects us further

Workshops, Pumpkins & What’s Growing Behind the Scenes
It’s been a full and rewarding stretch, with back-to-back workshops across the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, 17 eager participants joined me here at the barn to dive into the world of fermenting — sauerkraut, kombucha, and milk kefir all bubbling away by the end of it. Then on Monday, we continued straight on with another group of 17 at the Warrnambool Community Garden, focusing on sourdough bread making and baking. Two full sessions, plenty of questions, and a lot of sharing

A Full Barn, One Year On
Last Saturday’s Patch to Plate dinner left the barn full and the bellies even fuller. It also gave us a moment to pause and reflect — twelve months of these gatherings. Twelve meals, once a month, and nearly every one of them booked out. That kind of consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It’s been built over time — meal by meal, season by season — and it feels good to say we’re continuing. The dates are set for the rest of the year, and we’re looking forward to many more ev

Rain, Rest & Returning to Rhythm
The weather has finally turned, and with it came some much-needed rain. You can almost feel the land exhale. With the change, a few crops are now finishing up — including the flower patch, which has carried us beautifully through the warmer months. The timing couldn’t have been better for a short getaway. With the cows recently dried off, I saw a small window of opportunity to get my farming males off the farm for a few days. A couple of phone calls later, we found ourselves

From a full barn to festival fields!
What a week it’s been. Saturday brought a steady flow of people through the barn, with a lovely group of women especially interested in a Wellness and Detox workshop. It’s always encouraging to see that curiosity — people wanting to learn, to reconnect, to take something practical home with them. Sunday we held our very first sourdough class, and what a start it was. An unexpected 20 participants gathered, filling the space with questions, curiosity, and that shared appreciat

The season was short!
Full Barns & Fast Seasons Easter Monday was spent doing what we love — hosting another brunch at the barn. Bookings had been slow leading up to it, but as it so often happens, the space filled and the room settled into that familiar hum of people gathering, eating, and being. Out in the garden, the season is showing itself in its own way. Late planting has led to late harvesting, and now it’s all coming at once. Tomatoes are rolling in by the crate, another flush of strawberr

Same Same, just a little Fuller!
It may have been a shorter week for some, but out here it felt very much like business as usual. Our regular Monday trip into Warrnambool turned into a bit of a mission this week — a few extra errands added in to make the most of the drive. Living out in the country, the kilometres add up quickly, and with fuel prices sitting where they are, it pays to be mindful and make each trip count. The rest of the week unfolded at home, in that steady rhythm we know well. There’s been

From Warm Days to Wood Fire Mornings
There’s been a definite shift in the air this week. It began with that lingering warmth we’ve been holding onto, but as of today, the wood fire is crackling away in the big kitchen again — a gentle reminder that the seasons are turning. Out in the patch, the tomatoes have had a good bit of attention. This time of year, it’s less about growth and more about focus — pulling back the excess greenery so the fruit can soak up every bit of sun available. It’s a simple task, but one
