Garden Project
We had a big day in Melbourne this week, but the highlight was definitely picking up my Mum.
She arrived in the morning, which gave me a good reason to line up a few warehouse pick-ups while we were there. By the time we headed home, we had a van load of jars and glass bottles, flour, gluten-free flour and a new toy for the kitchen.
I can assure you, we saw quite a bit of Melbourne from north to south!
Thankfully, our son Timothy did some of the driving to get a few more hours up on his L-plates, which suited me very well. One less person for me to drive around, and another few hours closer to that licence!
The next day, we made the most of the beautiful weather.
I had everything ready to plant out a fairly big hedge and garden bed, and everyone got stuck into it. There was planting to do, cardboard to lay, straw to spread and plenty of watering.
We’re not quite finished yet, but there isn’t much left to do.
I’m really excited about this project. It’s something I’ve been working towards for quite a while, growing and gathering plants along the way, so to finally see it coming together is very satisfying.
Thursday was a very rainy day, but we actually welcomed it with almost a sense of relief. The rain was certainly needed, both for the farm and the pastures.
We did manage to get some carrots and snow peas sown before the rain really settled in, so that was another couple of jobs ticked off the list.
And today was kitchen day!
The list was a little longer than usual with our Swiss-inspired Brunch happening tomorrow morning. There’s always plenty to prepare when you’re feeding a crowd, but we’re looking forward to opening the Barn doors and welcoming everyone in.
Spring is certainly keeping us busy, but it’s the kind of busy that makes you look around and realise just how much is happening.
