Spring is Happening

Last week was rounded up with our Patch to Plate Dinner, which was a really lovely community night.

From there, we’ve had a much better week, getting back into more of our normal pace.

We managed to get most of the homeschooling done in the earlier part of the mornings, which meant we could spend much of the rest of the days outside. And honestly, that’s where we like to be!

We’re just about finished mulching around the berries and bushes before we move into the vegetable patch. There are still a few winter jobs hanging around, including a handful of rose bushes that somehow got missed.

We also spent some time in the orchard, weeding around the fruit trees and getting things tidied up for the season ahead.

The highlight of the week was finally cleaning out the greenhouse.

Over winter, it becomes the storage place for our pumpkins, but it was time for them to make their way inside and for the greenhouse to take on its spring job again.

We’ve started pricking out our first lot of seedlings—capsicums are now tucked away in the greenhouse, and tomatoes are being sown along with plenty of other spring vegetables.

There’s something exciting about seeing those first little seedlings getting started.

After a long winter, it feels like everything is waking up again.

Spring is happening, and we’re ready to roll with it.
