Rainy Days, New Beginnings & Keeping the Rhythm

At the start of last week, we launched something we’ve been working towards for a while — our online shop and weekly delivery to Timboon.

There is now a “Timboon” tab at the top of our webpage, where you can browse available items, including fresh produce, baked goods, and pantry staples.

Orders will need to be placed by Wednesday night, with pickup available on Saturday afternoon at a designated location.

We’re looking forward to seeing how this grows and connects us further with the wider community.

Back on the farm, things have been moving along steadily, even if there’s not one standout moment to report. Beds are being cleared, the final four rows of potatoes have come out of the ground, and calving has kept us quietly busy in the background.

Alongside that, we’ve been continuing renovations on an off-farm property.

And, of course, there’s homeschooling — something that fills a good portion of each day. It’s become easier over the years, but moving between algebra, fractions, history, and science certainly keeps the mind active and engaged.

This past week, however, was shaped by the weather. With heavy rain settling in, much of our time shifted indoors. There’s always something to do, and boredom never really finds a place here.

Bookwork was brought up to date, and I spent time finalising course notes for our upcoming butter-making class.

At the same time, a backlog of produce in the chiller called for attention, and we dedicated a full afternoon to working through it in the kitchen.

There’s been plenty of preserving — perhaps enough tomato sauce for now — alongside some beautiful quince paste, pear jam, and plum jam quietly cooking away while the rain continued outside. A different kind of productivity, but a satisfying one.
