The greenhouse is nearly empty, and the beds are bursting with life.
While we’ll continue succession planting throughout the season, the bulk of the work is done, and it’s a satisfying sight to see the patch so full of potential.
Our eco-garden project is taking shape, with paths carved out and the vision coming to life.
Our youngest daughter stood in front of it this week and declared, “Mum, it looks like a hot mess!”—a brutally honest but endearing observation. She’s already claimed a bed for herself, and I know she’ll fall in love with the finished garden, just like the rest of us will.
This week, we had a brief but productive visit from a backpacker, giving us a much-appreciated extra set of hands to knock a few jobs off the list.
In the kitchen, cheese-making has been in full swing. I’ve been busy crafting Gouda, Feta, Quark, and Ricotta. It’s not just enjoyable to make—it’s also deeply rewarding to know exactly where it all comes from.
The barn is feeling festive, thanks to the girls who enthusiastically set up our Christmas decorations. Their excitement was infectious, and the space now radiates holiday cheer.
A highlight of the week was welcoming a group of elderly men visiting from Warrnambool with the Out and About Bus. They strolled through the patch, and we shared some of our story with them. Moments like these remind me of the cycles of life—how one day I might be the one watching someone else thrive, just as they watched us this week.
As we close out another busy week, we’re grateful for the progress made, the connections fostered, and the memories created along the way
