A big weekend of teaching is behind me! Across three locations, I had the privilege of sharing my knowledge about planting out veggie patches and setting up for a successful season of homegrown produce. It’s always inspiring to see people keen to get their hands in the soil and take those first steps toward growing their own food.
Back home, the week was spent in the eco garden, knee-deep in hand weeding.
The unwanted plants seem to leap out of the ground at triple speed this time of year! We’re almost on top of it now, and I’m looking forward to starting the next round of planting soon.
Out on the farm, another 60 hectares were tackled for silage. The count is in—over 800 bales! A massive effort by the boys and a real boost as we look ahead to the warmer months.
Our next Patch to Plate Dinner is happening Saturday, 8 November, from 6pm onwards. It’s Lasagna Night (GF and vegetarian options available), followed by Panna Cotta with spiced plums for dessert. Tickets are $20 per adult, supported by Look Over the Farm Gate. Book online or send me a message—seats are filling fast!
Seedling season is in full swing—tomatoes, capsicum, eggplant, zucchini, cucumber, and pumpkin are all ready to go. Herbs and leafy greens are also available, along with our favourite local Biolink fertiliser to help things along.
Message me if you’d like the full list of varieties.
We’ll also be at Late Night Shopping this Thursday in Cobden, at Alderwood Manor from 5–8pm. Come say hello, enjoy the small market atmosphere, and support local makers, growers, and foodies.
Barn open tomorrow from 11–5
We’re serving:
Coffee & Cake
Swiss Omelettes with Meat Filling
Pumpkin & Feta Quiche
See you at the Barn!
