Smoke, Full Tables & Steady Progress

Reflecting on last weekend’s Patch to Plate BBQ — once again we were fully booked, and our hungry crowd was treated to a generous buffet dinner. There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing long tables filled and plates coming back empty.

On a personal note, I was slightly challenged by grilling close to 15kg of meat. Managing timing, heat and volume is one thing — having both BBQs run out of gas mid-cook definitely added an extra layer of excitement! But as always, we problem-solved, kept things moving and food was served. The evening was rounded off with chocolate mousse and fresh berries — a sweet finish to a smoky night.

Our next dinner will be on Friday 14. March, from 6pm onwards.

We’re planning a Pasta Night, finished with an autumn fruit galette and vanilla sauce.

$30/adult | Under 5 free | 5–12 years $15

Tickets must be booked.

Beyond events, the week carried its usual rhythm. We’ve been keeping on top of weeds, doing general maintenance, pricking out winter vegetables and cooking up a storm for some special meal orders. The patch continues to demand attention, and we continue to show up for it.

Midweek we also had a special visit from the shire. The mayor, councillors and members of the economic development team were out visiting local businesses, and we were very excited to share what we’re building here — from our events to our workshops and the ongoing patch-to-plate journey. It’s encouraging to feel seen and supported within the wider community.

Looking ahead:

Our second Open Garden with wood-fired pizzas is on Sunday 1. March, 10–4, with pizzas baking from 12–2 (until sold out).

And we’re hosting a Labour Day Brunch

on 9. March, 8:30–12pm.

$30 per adult — tickets must be booked.

Another full week at the Barn — a mix of smoke, soil and steady progress.
