Our Open Garden and first time offering wood fired pizza to the public was great fun. We had a steady stream of people come through to enjoy the fare, and it was such a joy to see the space filled with conversation, laughter and the smell of pizza baking in the oven.
Alongside the pizzas we offered a few other lunch options and some Italian-inspired desserts, which were well received. Many took the opportunity to wander through the patch afterwards — a gentle stroll in the mild temperatures, taking in the progress of the season, was enjoyed by young and old alike.
The week that followed was filled with settling back into our homeschool rhythm. Books were opened again, lessons resumed, and in between we continued to chip away at the never-ending jobs outside.
We’ve been chasing weeds, keeping moisture up across the beds and giving the tomatoes some well-needed attention. With the warmer weather, everything grows — and not always just what we planted!
Behind the scenes there has also been movement in finding someone to spend more hours helping us in the patch. It’s an exciting step as the garden keeps expanding — I’ll share more about that next week.
