Third term school holidays were very much welcomed by all of us.
It’s good to step away from the books for a while, catch our breath, and chip away at the jobs that have built up during the term.
With the weather keeping us indoors, a few nooks and crannies got a long-overdue clean — including my office!
In-between showers we managed to get into the strawberry patch. The plants are setting flowers, so it was the perfect time to weed, fertilise, and tuck them in with straw.
Meanwhile, sowing and pricking out seedlings is now a constant job, and the greenhouse is slowly filling with trays of new growth.
Our next Patch to Plate Dinner is set for Saturday, 11th October, supported by Look Over the Farmgate.
On the menu:
Casserole with homegrown veggies (vegetarian option available), served with polenta or creamy mashed potatoes
Seasonal salad buffet
And for dessert, the all-time favourite — lemon meringue pie!
Tickets are $20, and spots are limited — book yours soon so you don’t miss out.
Seedlings are also ready to go: silverbeet, lettuce, kohlrabi, beetroot, and spinach — with more coming as the season progresses.
On the preserves shelf you’ll now find fresh batches of cordial in lemon, strawberry, and lime — all available as individual flavours.
And in the “something new” department: we’ve made Beef Tallow, ready for you to try.
Our freezer has also been restocked with prime local beef from Old Township Farm. Different cuts are available — just ask when you visit.
Barn Open Tomorrow, Saturday, 11–5
We’re serving:
•Coffee & Cake
•Creamy Pasta with Beef & Spinach
•Veggie Soup
