Christmas Eve Finish Lines & Slower Days

We did it. Planting wrapped up on Christmas Eve — only just, and with a final push, but finished nonetheless. There’s something deeply satisfying about reaching that point where the last seedling goes in and the patch finally feels complete.
Straight after came the greenhouse clean-out. Every tray and crate needed to move out so we could minimise watering over the warmer weeks ahead. It’s amazing how much lighter things feel once that space is cleared and the workload shifts from planting to nurturing what’s now in the ground.
Christmas Day itself unfolded at a much slower pace. Between milking cows we packed up and headed down to the river just behind our property for a longer picnic lunch. An open fire, coffee brewing, 16 degrees and quiet — it was one of those days where you simply sit, breathe and enjoy where you are. No rush, no plans, just time.
Looking ahead, we’re easing into January with some lovely things on the calendar.
